CleanShot (the "app") is an Android app that analyzes photos on your device and suggests candidates for cleanup. This policy explains what data the app handles — and what it does not.

1. The most important principle — your photos never leave your device

    Your photos and videos, their analysis results (duplicate/blur detection, etc.), file names, file paths, and cleanup history are never transmitted anywhere. All analysis happens 100% on your device.
The app has no accounts, no sign-up, no servers of its own, and no cloud upload.
Photo deletion always goes through the Android system confirmation dialog — the app never deletes photos on its own.

  

2. Information we collect

The app itself operates no server that collects or stores personal information. However, the app includes the following third-party SDKs for ads, analytics, crash reporting, and payments. Each SDK may collect data under its own privacy policy.

No photo-related information is ever included in analytics or crash data. Usage events and crash logs never contain photo/video data, file names, or file paths. The app does not use any screen-recording or session-replay features.

3. App permissions

Photos & videos (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO; Android 12 and below: READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE)	Used to analyze your gallery and find cleanup candidates. Analysis happens only on your device.
Selected photos only (READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED)	On Android 14+, if you grant access to selected photos only, the app operates strictly within that selection.
Network (INTERNET)	Used only for showing ads, processing payments, and analytics/crash reporting. Never used to transmit photo data.

4. Personalized ads and the advertising ID

In regulated regions such as the EEA and the UK, the app requests consent via Google UMP before showing ads. You can change your consent choice in the app.
You can reset your advertising ID or limit ad personalization in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads).
Purchasing the "Remove Ads" product removes all ads from the app.

5. Data retention and deletion

Data the app stores on your device (analysis cache, cleanup history, settings) is deleted when you uninstall the app.
Retention of data collected by third-party SDKs follows each provider's policy (e.g., Firebase Analytics up to 14 months; Crashlytics crash logs 90 days).
To request deletion of collected analytics data, contact us at the address below. We will process the request through the deletion procedures provided by the relevant SDKs.

6. International data transfers

Servers of the third-party SDK providers (Google, Meta, ByteDance, Mintegral, Amplitude) may be located outside your country (e.g., in the United States), and data collected by those SDKs may be processed abroad, subject to each provider's privacy policy.

7. Children's privacy

This app is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will announce the revised content and its effective date on this page. For significant changes, we may provide additional notice in the app.
